PIBC Award for work of Michael von Hausen

The SFU City Program congratulates  Michael von Hausen, our course coordinator for the Urban Design Certificate, on this award for his work in the City of Langley:

CITY OF LANGLEY RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS EXCELLENCE IN PLANNING AWARD FOR DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN

Langley, BC – June 4, 2010

The City of Langley is pleased to announce that the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) awarded the prestigious “Excellence in Planning Award” to the City at its PIBC Annual Conference in Sun Peaks, B.C. on Thursday, June 3, 2010.

The award recognizes community excellence and innovation in the category of “comprehensive plans and policy” in land use planning. Mayor Peter Fassbender stated that “Council could not be more thrilled than to receive this honour from the PIBC. … The Plan takes the planning process two steps further by truly integrating the normally isolated policy planning with urban design and land economics. I

The Plan was developed in three phases over a two year period from 2007 to 2009 by the City of Langley and its consultant team led by Michael von Hausen, President of MVH Urban Planning & Design Inc.
